No Regrets
FOMO [Fear Of Missing Out], as my friend on the trip calls it, has taken over my travels. Everything I may not feel like doing or I think I can put off for another time suddenly becomes an opportunity that will never come again. So basically, I have to do everything I possibly can from here on out- even bungee jump when my mom asked me not to :) Don’t worry mom, I’m not going to get a...

Feel the Burn
So this week’s theme has been…. exhaustion. Yesterday we hiked up the side of a mountain- literally, straight up the mountain…. thousands of stairs. I know what you’re thinking….. pretty intense right? Well, it was. It was the most exercise I’ve done in a long time and not the best thing to do when you’re out of shape like me. But it was totally worth it....
Merry Christmas!
Just wanted to wish everyone a very merry christmas from out here at Mount Cook in New Zealand! The landscape out here is unreal and, fortunately, there’s snow! So it’s still a white Christmas for us- sort of : ) We spent the night making Christmas cookies and singing Christmas carols. Today has been a relax day with a short hike to dive into ice cold water in the glaciers. Soon...

Spiritual Encounter
I had been sitting in the car for nearly eight hours; eight hours of tightly winding roads, stretching around the mountain and listening to rap and nineties music exploding out of the speakers above my head. I had never been carsick before, but on that drive my stomach was wound tighter than the roads we were on. I tried napping to get rid of the sickness, but as I rested my head on the window...

The Southern Side
We’ve moved onto the south island of New Zealand now and it is one of the most beautiful, lusciously green, sparkling landscapes I’ve ever seen. We’ve been beach bums the last day or so- kayaking the crystal clear ocean full of seals, penguins and jellyfish and laying out on an isolated beach for lunch. Unfortunately, my kayaking group was going against the winds the entire time...

The Beginning...
Well, so far luck is not on my side. After arriving at the airport and getting on the plane we waited for nearly a half hour before discovering that our plane was having “issues.” We were evacuated from the plane and told there would be another one by 730. That quickly changed to 8pm, then 830 and finally 845. At this rate, we would have missed our connecting flight to New Zealand. The...

On my way out
In just 4 days I will be on a plane on my way to New Zealand and later, Australia. They have been one of my dream locations to travel to for a long time and it seems too good to be true. I will be going as part of a photography class and can’t wait to update everyone with photos of my travels. Hope you all have a lovely winter break and enjoy your holidays! Stay tuned for pictures and...

Green tip of the month...
Sorry for being out of commission for so long- busy finals week has taken over my computer and I am now just beginning to breathe.
For this week’s green tip of the month, I have chosen to ask that you readers start an indoor compost for the winter months. It’s amazingly fun, green, and easy! I started a vermicompost of my own recently and could not be happier with my little wormies!
